I finally got round to painting another character from the Silver Tower boxset, this time the Mistweaver! Absolutely stunning model, great aesthetic. Below is my take on how I painted her, this post has quite a big use of an airbrush. If you decide to paint by hand, then to get the blends, you need to make all your layers into glazes, very thin versions of their colour. Use Vallejo Glaze Medium in a 50:50 mix and wipe most of the paint off the brush over your thumb before applying each layer.
I started by priming the model with Chaos Black, then highlighting with Stone Grey and Dead white, both Vallejo Game Air.
I then sprayed all over the model with Alien Purple by Game Air and an underneath coat of Alien Purple mixed with 5% Negro Black.
I then sprayed from the top a mix of Alien Purple and Dead White.
I picked out her mask, Knee and Cloak corners as well as a few mist parts and sprayed very lightly a glaze mix of Temple Guard Blue, this took 3 very thin coats.
I mixed the Temple Guard Blue glaze with 5% Dead White and sprayed again very finely from a tighter angle.
I then went in and painted her Skin with Cadian Fleshtone.
The next stages were pretty easy just a matter of being as neat I as I could. Ill start with the blade, this is simply leadbelcher, nuln oil and stormiest silver. The Gold details are Retributor Gold, Reikland Fleshshade (wash the skin also at this point) and edge highlighted with Stormhost Silver.
The staff was a glaze mix of Gore Red followed by a glaze of troll slayer orange.
With the hair, this is a Glaze of Gore Red all over, applied twice, then a glaze of troll slayer orange from about half way, then a highlight of Troll Slayer Orange on 3/4 of the way up on the hair, then an edge highlight of Yriell Yellow on the last bits of the hair. This was followed by a final glaze of Abbadon Black towards the roots.
Finally the cloak and mist is just edge highlighted with Genestealer Purple.
With the base, I have gone for a slightly different approach for all Silver Tower models, I first add some texture paint over the whole thing, I then paint it all over with Stormhost Silver and finally paint all over with Soulstone Blue.
This model is finished! Boom, another one down.
