'How I Paint' Series: Fyreslayers, Auric Hearthguard

Another unit for the fyreslayers, this time the Auric Hearthguard. If you have seen any of the previous painting series on fyreslayers, you will see that the basics are all very similar, but because of the weapons on these guys I thought i would do a separate article on how to paint these so...

Here is 'How I Paint' them.

'How I Paint' Series: Fyreslayers, Runefather on Magmadroth

Welcome to slayer world! First stop, Runefather on Magmadroth. In todays 'How I Paint' Series I show you how I went about painting up my Magmadroth and Runefather too. I wanted to go for bright colours on this model, the fluff behind my army is that this Runefather (name not decided yet) has just gone his separate ways from his main lodge, he was one of many sons and not one that was in line anytime soon to gain Father status. He decided to set up his own lodge instead and was given a group of brave warriors by his father to go out with. He travelled into the Magma caves in Ghur and found a young Magmadroth of which he now calls his own. The younger the Magmadroth, the brighter their colours.

Battle Report & Review: SCGT Battleplan, The Silver Tower

Good Morning! So last night I played the second battleplan from the SCGT game pack, The Silver Tower, I played against Ben Crowe's hard hitting Stormcast army using the new Allegiance abilities and Battle Traits.

My story continued from the Herald of the Storm, the War Council in that previous battle managed to secure the 4 altars to open up a Realmgate. The Wanderers Host could not stop the shear force and brick like nature of the army. The army have now found themselves in Chamon, a huge building stands in front of them. Artur Sigi, the BattleMage upon the two headed Griffin, fell and has been badly wounded. The Jade Wizard, Frieda spent a long while healing him back up but has now been left too weak to continue, in her place, the warband has been joined by a Gold BattleMage dispatched from Azyr to aid them further. This building must be held and controlled, but fate is fickle and the great illusionist has cast his magic upon the whole area, nothing is what it seems.

In front of them, the see a huge host of what they think to be Orruks, in reality, it is all fake, the Orruks they see are in fact a host of Stormcast sent on the same mission by Azyr. But with the vale down, the War Council sound the war cries and charge on to attack! The Stormcast also have been tricked, instead of allies they only see Tzeentch Arcanites in front of them, they too send the message to form into attack formations. The stage is set.

'How I Paint' Series: Fyreslayers, Vulkite Bezerkers

Fyreslayers are awesome! I have wanted to do a small fyreslayer army for a while and for a number of reasons. One, the models are fantastic, Two, the fluff is great and Three, I have many Order Alliance models now and sometimes coming up with a Matched Play army that mixes them all together is difficult. With Fyreslayers though you get some great little Battleline units and because of their fluff basically explaining they are mercenaries that will fight for anyone if the price is right, they fit into most armies fluff wise too.

I am taking the War Council formation (Which is only Heroes in the Colliegate Arcane faction) to South Coast Grand Tournament and needed some troops to protect them as they fight on the battlefield. I thought what better than Fyreslayers and a great excuse to get these models done!

Battle Report & Review: SCGT Battleplan, Herald of the Storm

Today, I bring you something a little different, I played through the first scenario from the upcoming SCGT tournament 'Herald of the Storm', firstly I gotta say, this review is based on my opinion playing with just 2 armies, so the other possibilities are obviously endless.

I also approach this review in a more narrative way rather than giving you tactics on how to play the mission, I will try and give you ammo from playing the game with a story attached. The scenario lends itself to some great narrative. In this game between Adam James (@warhammernerd) and myself, the story was simple. The War Council formation led by Artur Sigi with their bodyguard of Fyreslayers led by Grominir, the Runefather on Magmadroth found themselves deep within the Realm of Life, travelling through some heavily overgrown landscape, in hand they had Sigmarite Hammers, sent on a mission from The Order of Sigmar to return them to Azyr. Suddenly they were ambushed by a Waystone Pathfinder formation led by a Native Nomad Prince, could they hold of long enough to secure the 4 locations on the board to open the Realmgate to travel to the next destination?
