Review: Chaos Battletome. Beasts of Chaos

I can not believe I am sitting down to write this one. The time of the Beasts is upon us and we have a new shiny battletome, Beasts of Chaos. Games Workshop have been kind enough to send me an advanced review copy for this one. They clearly herd me braying loud enough! So happy to be able to share my thoughts of the book with you guys. Disclaimer, this is slightly late as I wanted to give the review justice plus I also wanted to get a review game played against Kye Baker (a fellow Narrative Event Organiser and part of the Only the Faithful team). I will dive into the Lore, Narrative possibilities, the Organisations of the new Greatfreys, the Marks, Artefacts, Battle Traits, Command Abilities, Spells and finally changes in the warscrolls.

'How I Paint' Series: Khorne Daemon, Skarbrand

Its been a while...

Wanna know how I painted skarbrand? Then your in the right place. I never preach that this is the right way to do it, hence I call these How "I" Paint series, but I do hope you find techniques in here that will help you with your own models.

AoS2 Quick Review: Faction Focus, Beasts of Chaos

A topic close to my heart, today I am venting some initial thoughts on the Faction Focus that appeared yesterday, Beasts of Chaos. A little background: So I am as you would probably know, an avid Brayherd and previous Beastmen player, basically I love goats... I have played Beastmen throughout 7th, 8th and into AoS too. After some personal matters, I had to sell my first (well third but best and longest) Beastmen army, during 2017 I started on them again and have been building them up since.

AoS2 Quick Review: Realm Artefacts and Endless Spells

The Malign Portents have really messed up the Mortal Realms and made them an even more deadly place, Endless Spells is one way in which AoS is changing. A first for a tabletop game, spells can now manifest physically on the battlefield and will move around with a life of their own.

AoS2 Quick Review: Summoning

Welcome to a new segment which will be a quick overview and review of something that has caught my eye in the past weeks for AoS.

This week I take a look at summoning and the potentials of it in Age of Sigmar 2! Firstly, the idea of summoning is cool, being able to bring additional units and models onto the board by means of magic and arcane ways is so thematic to Warhammer now. In most of the stories and lore it details very frequently armies raising from the grave or teleporting down to the Realms, or beasts being summoned from the surrounding areas to aid (or not aid) factions and alliances. If Games Workshop get this right, it will be a massive plus for the game, if they get it wrong, well..

Review: Death Battletome, Legions of Nagash

Good Morning Everyone. Welcome to the next HobbyHammer review, this week I bring you NAGASH! All caps all the time. I have been digesting the battletome over the weekend and jeez.. it is a monster. The sheer amount of options you get with this is unprecedented. I shall go over that more in soon enough. I am going to bring you a slightly different angle in this review, looking at the hobby side of the tome and the narrative aspects contained in the book as well. I hope you enjoy.

Review: Malign Portents, Campaign Book

Welcome to Malign Portents, a huge project from Games Workshop that will push the timeline of Age of Sigmar on and usher in a much darker time of the game. I have been lucky enough to have had an advanced copy for a while to look through and I gotta say, it is fantastic. In this book you will get new ways to play as well as great updates on existing ways too. The book contains new battleplans for Skirmish, Narrative and even Matched Play! So no longer are tournaments going to be refined to the 6 in the Generals Handbook 2017. It also contains new warscroll characters and new tables to roll on to represent the Portents waxing and waning in the Mortals Realms.

Review: Maggotkin of Nurgle, Battletome

Good day everyone! Today I bring to you my review of the Maggotkin of Nurgle Battletome. These are my views on the book from the lore through to painting and army build guides and into Path to Glory, Battleplans and finally the warscrolls themselves. For a narrative player like myself, there is not much point in just focusing on narrative aspects, the whole book is filled from front to back with it, even building the strongest of Nurgle lists still lays down a huge narrative foundation to it. You will find yourself immersed in a world of rot and filth and you will love it!
